Queensland State Archives is custodian of the State's largest and most significant collection of government records and is an invaluable research facility for those researching their family tree, local history or other area of special interest.

Queensland State Archives is established under section 21 the Public Records Act 2002 (the Act) as the State’s archives and records management authority.
Queensland State Archives identifies and manages public records of enduring value in all media, and makes public records available for use by present and future generations. Queensland State Archives also promotes the implementation of appropriate information management principles and practices across public authorities.
